Vught & surroundings
The Vught area is known for its beautiful nature, culture, cozy villages and the Burgundian 's-Hertogenbosch.
So there are countless outings you can plan while staying at Landgoed Huize Bergen. Below is a top 5 of activities / outings that we recommend to our guests.
National Monument Camp Vught
During the Second World War, Camp Vught, or Konzentrationslager Herzogenbusch, was the only SS concentration camp outside Nazi Germany and the area annexed by it. National Monument Camp Vught wants to make a significant contribution to the moral consciousness in society by keeping alive the memory of the Vught concentration camp and the fate of those who became associated with this place (also after the war). In addition, they strive to make clear what the current significance of the (im)material testimonies is and what the connection is with the issues of our time.
The Vughtse Heide
Walking on unpaved paths, enjoying nature and the landscape close to home. That is possible on the ommetjes in Vught and surroundings. One of them is ommetje 'Vughtse Heide', a walk of 5 km. Walk from node to node and enjoy! In earlier centuries Vught was often the scene of attacks on 's-Hertogenbosch. Discover the three lunettes that were built on the Vughtse Heide in the 19th century to absorb an attack from the young Belgium. Walk over the forest paths along the moats of these defenses. You also pass by Kamp Vught. Through woods you reach the last piece of real heathland. On the Loonsebaan there is a sculpture group of two fighting knights on horseback that recalls the last medieval battle of knights in 1600 on the Vughtse Heide.
's-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch)
From Huize Bergen Estate you will stay near the Burgundian city of 's-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch). Den Bosch is easily accessible from our hotel via car (10 min), bicycle (20 min) and train station Vught. Those who enter Den Bosch imagine themselves in a historic setting. Medieval buildings with stepped gables, cozy streets and monuments characterize the streetscape. Combine that with the Burgundian and hospitable atmosphere and you understand why it is lovely to stay in Den Bosch. What is typical Bosch? A lot! The Bossche Dragon for example, which you can find on the Stationsplein. The Bossche Bol, St. Jans Cathedral, the Binnendieze, the painter Jheronimus Bosch, Theatre Festival Boulevard, Jazz in Duketown or the special carnival traditions of Oeteldonk. It is all characteristic of Den Bosch.
DePetrus
DePetrus is a meeting place for residents and visitors of Vught & surroundings.
Come in to browse through the books, to join a course or activity, to buy a nice gift, to admire the art or the building, or just to read the newspaper while enjoying a delicious cup of coffee or tea. Activities are regularly scheduled.
